To satisfy those who have a sweet tooth, we’re going to look at a chocolatey recipe today. We’re going to go over an energizing chocolate chia pudding that you can make for breakfast or save as a delightful dessert. It’s not hard to make, but you do have to wait a bit before the pudding is ready.
Ingredients
All you need is a mason jar in which you’ll mix and store your pudding and the following ingredients:
- ¼ cup of chia seeds, either white or black, dry
- 1 cup of nut milk (almond, oat, coconut, soy)
- 1-2 tablespoons of raw cacao powder
- 1 tablespoon of either raw honey or maple syrup
- ½ teaspoon of vanilla extract
- ¼ teaspoon of sea salt
- 1 tablespoon of nut/seed butter (almond or cashew butter)
Chia seeds are a great source of fiber and calcium. They have great nutritional value and contain omega-3 fats. When using them in this recipe, be sure to use them dry because they play a crucial role in creating the pudding texture and even making this pudding edible!
Directions
Once you have combined all of these ingredients inside of your mason jar, give it a light swirl with a spoon. You don’t want layers of each ingredient; you want them to all blend together.
After this, close your mason jar tightly and shake it. Shake it really well until everything inside is one uniform chocolate color.
Now, you’re going to place it inside the fridge for two hours. Once you’ve let it cool, take it out, shake it rigorously once more, and let it sit overnight. It will be ready to eat in the morning!
What’s essentially going to happen is that the chia seeds are going to become gel-like in consistency which will give you the pudding texture you need. Letting it cool and shaking it will make sure that the ingredients are well mixed and not sitting in their own corners of the mason jar.
This recipe makes two servings, so if you want to have this chocolate chia pudding as your breakfast for the week, then make 2 or 3 mason jars worth of pudding. They can last four to five days in the fridge without going bad.
Add your Toppings
When you finally have your chocolate chia pudding ready, you can top it and enjoy it! The toppings I like to use are sliced bananas, shredded coconut, cinnamon, and cacao nibs. You can get creative with your own toppings! Add some berries and fruits that you think will go well with your chocolate chia pudding! Make yourself a healthy and delicious breakfast every day with prepared pudding servings.
