How to Make a Green Smoothie

Smoothies are a great way to help you transition to a healthier lifestyle.

Filled with healthy ingredients that contain the vitamins your body needs to stay healthy, it’s no wonder that people often use smoothies when they want to rid their body of toxins they’ve accumulated through unhealthy eating habits.

The key to making a green smoothie is choosing the right ingredients.

The first step is the greens. Some great examples for using greens are spinach, kale, mixed greens or even bok choy. You want to alternate your greens as much as you can, so you don’t always end up using the same greens every day. Romaine lettuce is a great green to start with.

The second step is including one or two fruits. Bananas and strawberries or berries are great options to use. Bananas or mangoes can be used as a base to provide creaminess.

For step three, you want to add a nut or seed in your smoothie. Chia seeds, flax seeds, walnuts, cashews and pecans are great choices. Chia seeds are known as one of the most popular superfoods because they provide a lot of crucial nutrients such as calcium, fiber, protein and omega 3s.

The fourth step is to include a boost. This step is optional, so you don’t have to use it if you don’t need it. I use cacao powder as my boost which is filled with antioxidants.

The last step is water. Once you have all your ingredients you can add them to your blender. Make sure you have a strong blender that can handle mixing all the ingredients together.
