Raw Apple Beet Salad Recipe

We’ll be looking at an example of simplicity with today’s raw apple beet salad recipe. There’s not much to it when it comes down to making it, but there are plenty of benefits to offer by using whole foods and raw ingredients.

Simplicity sometimes is the perfect way to go. Keep it easy, keep it quick, and keep it real. This kind of mentality can be implemented on your diet to make it easier to stay healthy.

Here’s what you’ll need:

  • 1 red beet
  • 2 apples of your liking
  • Freshly squeezed lemon juice (1/2 medium lemon)
  • 2 teaspoons of olive oil
  • ¼ teaspoon of sea salt

The first step is to wash and peel your beets. Make sure that while you’re handling your beet, you wear protective gloves. The pigment from beets tends to be quite strong and can stain your hands and clothes. If it does, then you’re going to have quite the time trying to get the color out.

Use a Spiral Slicer for the Raw Beet Apple Salad

What I use when making this beet apple salad is my Paderno spiralizer, which you can find on Amazon. You can purchase this or a similar product, or simply use a grater to shred your beets to a more manageable consistency. Beets do tend to be extremely hard and crunchy, so chopping or cutting is not an option.

Spiralize or grate the beet down and then combine it with your apples. You can cut your apples however you like, though the best method is to chop them into smaller pieces so you can get more in every bite.

For a dash of tangy flavor, add some freshly squeezed lemon juice on top of your beets and apples. Pour in your olive oil and your sea salt and mix well. It’s as simple as that!

This will take you no longer than half an hour with the preparation and mixing in mind. You can use this beet apple salad as a side dish to all of your meals, making them healthier and more flavorful. It’s best to stick to raw ingredients since that’s where most of the benefits come from.

Beets are rich in folates and nitrates for the body, while apples come with a punch of antioxidants and fiber. Put them together and your salad is healthy and powerful.
